August 31-September 4, 2020
- I hope you're more comfortable with Google Classroom and Seesaw--it seems everyone is turning in activities and I'm impressed with how many of you are attending the LIVE sessions. Each week I will be adding more to our schedules and more optional websites to use. PLEASE remember, just because there will be more options, it does NOT mean you have to do more work! I am trying to meet a variety of learning styles, not give you more stress or work :)
- Please know the attendance policy--As long as you attend at least 1 LIVE session, OR turn in any assignment, OR send me a text, your child will be counted present for the day.
- Please continue to ask questions--I have just as many questions for you as well! Thank you everyone for working with me to learn and make remote learning as successful as we can.
- Thank you everyone for picking up materials. I am happy to send home additional materials--if you have something particular in mind, please ask!
- In the next two weeks, we need to have a meeting to review your child's IEP and if we need to make adjustments during remote learning. A good example is a goal for typing in your lunch number in the cafeteria---this is not needed at home. We need to double check goals/objectives to see if any modifications are needed. We will talk soon!
- On a personal note--I am working very hard to meet the school's requirements for IEP goals and Extended Content Standards that it's VERY difficult to plan for FUN activities--Please take time with your son/daughter to have some FUN each day. Music, Art, cooking, play-dough, are just a few of the things we usually do in the classroom that are not as easy to do remotely, and I miss these the most.
- See you tomorrow morning!
August 24-28, 2020
- Thank you all for being so patient while we learn how to begin school remotely.
- Every morning, please check Google Classroom for our Daily Schedule. This week we will add more "Live" lessons and posted activities. Please let me know if you have any difficulty with Seesaw. Your home learning code is listed in our Google Classroom. We will be "full time" beginning August 31, including individual sessions. I will do my best to choose times that work for your family and our school schedule.
- I need to speak to each family to discuss your child's IEP and remote learning. I will try to get these meetings complete this week.
- Our Materials pick-up time is Thursday between 12-1pm. If you cannot pick up items at this time, kindly send me an email. Thanks!
- Please be sure to read Mr. Mack's weekly message for important information.
- Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
August 17-21, 2020
- WELCOME to the 2020-2021 school year!! Starting online is going to be challenging for all. I'm a "camera-shy" person that will be teaching live and recording lessons in front of a camera all day! You will be continuing to balance your work from home jobs, family life, and online school for your children--all during a world Pandemic. Someday, these will all be memories and we'll wonder how we did it. We can only do our best and take it one day at a time.
- I will be taking attendance beginning on Monday. I will be in a Google Meet at 9:00am to say hello and answer any questions you may have. If you cannot attend the 9:00 Meet, don't worry--be sure to "connect" with me via text (Remind) or email. There are also Google Meets for each grade level in the mornings, and afternoon Community Assemblies. The links are in the email I sent home on Friday.
- We are beginning slowly, as some students do not have their Technology Devices yet. For the first two weeks of school, expect us to slowly add more to our schedules. We may need to update/amend your child's IEP and I also need to speak with each of you regarding our school schedule. It's going to be a busy 2 weeks getting organized and making sure you are able to login to everything.
- WakeID Portal User names and passwords are the same, but it may ask you to change your password. Please try to login as your student and let me know if you have difficulty.
- I have a new Google Classroom for this school year. If you know how to Join a Class, my code is: glv3xtn
- Seesaw has also been updated for 2020-21. Each student has a unique home learning code. I will email those to you individually.
